This is a technology which is is about to replace the current inefficient rotating jet engines consuming lot of fuel and had much friction and drag. But MHD type propelling engines doesn't have any moving parts, its back bone is Plasma(ionized gas)
MHD is about macroscopic interaction of electrically conducting fluids like plasma, with the magnetic field. Large number of experiments going around on this since 60 years,to know its applications..and they found some. It solved problems such as plasma confinement, liquid-metal cooling of nuclear reactors, and electromagnetic casting. It also finds applications in Geophysics and astronomy.
